AM: Bank Holiday Bottle Race 1 Bank holiday Sunday saw two races for "Bottle" prizes. The wind was a pleasant Force 2 and the sun even put in an appearance! Jane Chadney (Laser Radial) made the best start, very closely followed by Toby Tobias and his crew Christine in the Bosun. Another Bosun of Adam Hilton and crew Jamie got caught on the wrong side of the start buoy and had to manoeuvre around John Buckett (Otter) to make the start. Jane Chadney quickly forged in to a good lead chased by Roger Heasman in his new RS200 with crew James, now very experienced in RS200 sailing, giving him some hints and tips! A bevy of Bosuns then followed and then Adeney Pooler with his Graduate who, after a long rest from racing, was doing extremely well and on the heels of Roger and James. Sue Murray (Topper Trez) caught up the leaders in the 2nd lap with a good wind shift from West to Middle marks, and continued to push ahead. Results: 1. Jane Chadney (Laser Radial) 2. John Buckett (Otter) 3. Sue Murray (Topper Trez) 4. Adeney Pooler (Graduate) 5. Simon Veal and Elliot (Bosun) 6. Toby Tobias and Christine Hartigan (Bosun) 7. Roger Heasman and James Pollard (RS 200) 8. John Duncalf (Topper) 9. Adam Hilton and Jamie (Bosun) 10. Nathan Pollard and Bob Sampson(RS200) 11. John Savage (Solo) 12. Everett and Judith Sharp (Skipper 14) PM: Bank Holiday Bottle Race 2 A stunning array of 15 boats took to the water for the afternoon race with John Duncalf, Bob Sampson and Mary Carter (Laser) all getting excellent starts. Simon Veal was a little too prompt and sensibly chose to head back round just seconds before the start or he would have been over the line! The fleet spent the next two legs sorting themselves out, and on the downwind leg Bob and Nathan in the RS200 with Bob helming this time, were in the lead with the asymmetric spinnaker flying. They were closely shadowed by Jane Chadney and then Roger and James, Adeney, and the rest of the fleet followed in a line like baby ducks! At the end of lap 2 the top 7 places were well mixed up with Bob having overtaken Jane to sit in the lead, Mary had moved up to 4th, Adeney had dipped to 6th, and Sue Murray to 7th. As the last lap came to a close Bob and Nathan took line honours followed by Jane Chadney and a well deserved and well sailed 3rd for Mary. Results: 1. Jane Chadney (Laser Radial) 2. Bob and Nathan (RS 200) 3. Sue Murray (Topper Trez) 4. Paul Whybrow (Solo) 5. Adeney Pooler (Graduate) 6. John Buckett (Otter) 7. Simon Veal and Elliot (Bosun) 8. Mary Carter (Laser) 9.
