AM: Frostbite3 This race was held but places could not be recorded because of a mix-up over shortening the race from four to three laps. It was full of incident, with Paul Anderson (Laser) pulling out a great big lead and lots of surprise capsizes as the wind went from whisper to scream. PM: Icicle 3 Eleven boats came to the line on a day of southerly and highly variable winds. Jane Anderson with a Laser 4.7 was the first to set out towards Dam Green with Paul Whybrow in his familiar red Solo second, Bob Sampson sailing his RS200 with Annie Quartermain as crew third and Brian and Nathan Pollard's Tasar fourth. On the long run up to Pinkie Annie quickly got the RS200's gennaker flying. A second group of boats were led by Adam Hilton's Solo with Jane Chadney (Laser 4.7) and Geoff Floyd (Solo) in close contention. Beating back from Pinkie Jane and Bob were still close together with the rest of the fleet dropping back. Bob was leading at Inlet White; they crossed the centre of the Lake to Inlet and then Jane retook the lead as they resumed tacking towards the Dam. On the second lap the Pollard Tasar moved into third in front of Jane Chadney and at Dam Green the RS200 capsized (Annie claimed responsibility!) leaving them trailing in seventh. Jane Anderson was now well ahead with Brian and Nathan Pollard second and Jane Chadney still chasing. Bob sped up to fourth and Linda Spiller (Laser 4.7) overtook Adam Hilton at West, starting a ding dong battle that continued for the rest of the race, Adam getting back in front at Dam Green but Linda, despite a last minute near capsize, finished twenty seconds in front. Vicki Duncalf and then John in their Toppers got past the Whybrow Solo and after that John passed Vicki. The handicap wiped a good ten minutes off his time and gave him a merited second place. The sun shone and the sailors were very warm inside their drysuits. Results: 1. Jane Anderson (Laser4.7) 2. John Duncalf (Topper) 3. Vicki Duncalf (Topper), 4. Jane Chadney (Laser 4.7) 5. Linda Spiller (Laser 4.7) 6. Nicky Buckett, John Buckett and John Dabbs (Bosun) 7. Adam Hilton (Solo) 8. Bob Sampson and Annie Quatermain (RS200) 9. Brian and Nathan Pollard (Tasar) 10.
