Upper Tamar Lake Sailing Club

REPORT & PHOTOS OF BOXING DAY RACE- CLICK ON ''RACE REPORTS' LINK

The UTLSC is a small friendly club based at Upper Tamar Lake, which is a South West Water Authority reservoir on the borders of Devon and Cornwall, near Bude. The club organises regular dinghy racing on Sundays from March until mid-November, with races starting at midday and 2:30pm, with time for lunch and a chat in between. On Wednesday afternoons during Summer and early Autumn, members often cruise at the lake, with less formal racing during  the summer months.

A wide range of dinghies take part in the racing, including Lasers, Toppers, Solos and Bosuns.  Club members also take part in cruising events, including weekends away (often spent on the sheltered waters of Carrick Roads) and day sails at locations such as Roadford Reservoir.  To round off, we also organise a varied social programme (especially during the coldest part of the year!) including walks, cycling, skittles, archery, quizzes and so on.

New members are always very welcome; see the 'Joining the Club' link below for more details.  For anybody new to sailing, the club also runs a course under the banner 'Starting Sailing Without That Sinking Feeling',  which is suitable for all ages; see the 'News and Events' link for more details.  Although most club members have their own boats, there are also club boats available to members for a small fee, including single-handed Toppers and two- person Bosuns.
