Joining the Club and Information for New Members

Joining The Club

Membership

All new members are  very welcome, whatever their level of sailing ability.

Membership of the UTLSC costs £25 per year for a single membership, £42.50 per year for a family membership, £5.50 per year for a single junior (under 18)membership (ie for a junior not covered by a family membership), but this fee is waived for the first year of a junior member joining the club.  There is also a social (non-sailing) membership, which is £10 per year and a student membership (18-22 in full-time education), which is £16 per year.

Contact the Secretary, Mandy Pollard (phone 01288 381288 or e-mail secretary.utlsc@gmail.com ) for more details.  For more general enquiries, contact the Commodore, Adam Hilton  (phone 01409-281155 or e-mail commodore.utlsc@gmail.com )

There is a downloadable membership form, so that you can send it direct to the Membership secretary, if you prefer. Click here to download (it is Microsoft Word format)

Information for New Members

South West Lakes Trust

In order to sail a boat on the lake, it is necessary to pay a launch fee to the South West Lakes Trust, who administer watersports on the lake (this is separate, and in addition to, membership of the UTLSC itself).  Launch fees for a season are currently £125 for an individual membership, £180 for a family membership, £85 for OAP/student and £60 for youth/disabled; in addition, boat storage is £60, plus £55 for each additional boat.  Day launch fees are £11 per day.  See the South West Lakes Trust web site for more details.

Downloadable Information

There's a considerable amount of information for new members that can be downloaded:

Welcome to Upper Tamar Lake Sailing Club: Word format

Introductory leaflet giving details of club, how dinghy racing works etc: Adobe PDF format

Membership form: Word format

Club boats leaflet: Word format

Introductory leaflet specifically for potential junior members: Word format

How Pursuit Races handicaps are calculated: Word format

As an overview, there's a 'Which' magazine style decision tree that may make the various options clearer; it was originally designed for people who had come on one of the club's introductory sailing courses, but it's broadly applicable to any new club member who is thinking of joining the club:
